The Little Black Box

{By Kimberly ~ November 5, 2008}

I’ve been giving a lot of thought to a Handmade Holiday this year.  I know I can’t do all the “hand making” myself, but there are so many options out there.  When I search Etsy for a handmade item that I know I want to give to someone, I always find a ton of products to choose from.  How do I know who to buy from?  What will the product quality be like?

If you’re like me and want the chance to “test drive” a product from an online retailer before purchasing one of their items, I suggest that you check out The Little Black Box by Kimberlee Keane.  This site collects and sells samples of handmade goods from various online retailers and each month they mail out more than 150 promo boxes that contain a handful of promotional and full size items sent in from independent crafters and artists. The price varies slightly depending on how many treats go into each month’s box. No matter what though, it’s always a steal.

This month, I was lucky enough to be a Little Black Box recipient, there were many crafters represented in the box and oh, the smell was amazing. For a small price you can try out first hand what the crafters have to offer and a majority of them even included coupons with a sample of their product.

There were bath and body products, teas, jewelry, a zippered pouch, perfume, chocolates, a key fob and many other goodies too numerous to name here. If you are a crafter, this is also a great place to let the world know you exist by putting one of your products in the Little Black Box!

{Just a few samples for you} ~ the creators of these products have featured items in November’s Little Black Box, to see all of the artists featured this month, click here.

I will be doing a complete run down of each and every item I received over at my blog ~ Sauchagirl:  www.sauchagirl.blogspot.com this week.  Come check it out!

    This is a brilliant idea! It’s like a craft show all in one box and it seems like it would save a ton of time too!

    I just ordered one yesterday…she put the october boxes on sale for 15! I have never bought one before and had to scoop one up for a birthday present for myself. I am also participating in the little black box in March…think spring. =D

    That sounds really fun, but the practical side of me can’t get past the image of mountains of tchokes and knick-knacks and little items I don’t quite *love* but can’t throw *out* and wouldn’t know who to give it away to!
