Handipoints
{By Emily | June 27, 2008}
Chores are those very needed, yet often procrastinated tasks that are a part of life. As parents, many of us are trying to teach our children how to be responsible and complete their daily or weekly tasks. And since this process can be a little tough to enjoy, we could use a little extra help from Handipoints. (Tip by Tenille).
Handipoints is a great website and tool for children who need a little boost in the task department. Not only can you sign up for FREE and print out chore charts galore (here’s a sample), you can learn to set up an allowance program and your children can add up and keep track of the points they earn from doing their chores on their chore chart and online.
Handipoints has built a way for children (and parents) to input their chore points and bonus points so that they can earn and create a Cool Cat Handipoint character that lets them participate in all kinds of online games and cartoons. It’s a beautifully set up reward program that may help your children actually look forward to completing their chores.

Awesome idea. Thanks for the tip. I agree with the comment above by happyathome — I need this too — I’m sitting here, blog hopping instead of cleaning for my house guests that are arriving in two hours.

I have been using this for a week with my niece and nephew, whom I babysit. We love it. Kids earn two kinds of points for completing tasks: Handipoints - They set savings goals and when they have enough handipoints, their parents purchase real world items, and Bonus Points - They spend these on the website on costumes or accessories for their online cat persona, or on decorating their cat’s house. My niece has purchased cat clothing while my nephew has starting decorating his home. It’s fun to see what they find important! There are also many ways to learn in Handiland, from the Stamp Books they work to fill up, to Pop Quizzes they find around town. I couldn’t be happier with this. And even their grandparents have their own task list so when the grandkids are with them, they can earn points by completing the tasks that are appropriate at grandma and grandpa’s house. Also, all tasks are graded, so anything less than an “A” will get them less than the full point value for that task. I am so happy to have stumbled across this site, and would highly recommend it!
