Create a Princess Tutu
{By Emily ~ April 30, 2008}
For the princesses in your life. If you love little tutus as much as I do, you are going to love this project. They are so cute and simple to make and will save you some mula too!

These cute little tutu pictures and directions come from this link: Go Photography. Enjoy!
Step 1:
Measure the length you would like the tutu tulle (the light-weight fine netting fabric you will use) and when cutting your tulle stripes - double that length. So, if you need it to be about 14 inches long, cut 28 inch strips in the colors you like. (Example colors: Purple and Pink).
Step 2:
Then tie the tulle around your elastic. (Be sure to stay consistent when tying each strip of tulle). Like so:

Purple tulle going around the elastic.

Tying it tight.

Finished with one!
Tie on as many tulle strips as you wish. The key: do not tie them too tight first since this may stretch out the elastic and will make it harder to fix later. Once you have tied on all of the tulle strips and they are positioned just how you like them, then tighten them up.
If you decide to make your own tutu, send us your pictures and we’ll post them up!! Have fun!

love this idea, I’m definitely filing this away for future use
Thanks for sharing!
My mom and I made this a while ago and it is SO cute! You don’t even need to know how to sew. One roll of toelle makes a whole skirt. Just fluff and separate all the knots.
This is too cute! love it!!! I will definitely be making one of these for Princess!
o my gosh i have been looking all over for fun and easy ways to make a cute lil tutu and i love this..i’ll send pictures.
I’m sure there’s a lot of wiggle room in this project BUT how wide did you make your strips?
Thanks!
That tutu is cute; I wanted to know have you every made one that had different lengths. Would that process be any different for the one above.
I used your amazing tutorial and made such a cute gift for my niece. I plan to post a pic of it onto my blog and was wondering if it would be ok to link my post to your site and share your creativity with some of my friends?
