Cute Shoppes: Ajo Bebe and CityBird Designs
January 2, 2009 by Emily · 5 Comments
I love that it’s Friday! ;) Today we’re doing a little window shopping with these two cute shoppes:

Ajo Bebe’s contemporary, handmade baby & children accessory line is perfect for cool moms on the go.

Using vintage-inspired fabrics, you will find one-of-a-kind bibs, changing pads, baby wipes cases, burp clothes and nursing covers. You can buy these items at any of the “where to shop” locations listed on Ajo Bebe.

CityBird Designs is a paper design shop offering unique, hand-made invitations and cards. Currently they are having a sale for $1 cards! Check it out here.

These cute circle shaped tags are made from reclaimed file folders (recycled!) and have been distressed for the old-timey look. The birds are made out of vintage dictionary pages and are hand embroidered with cranberry colored floss. These tags were originally meant for the holidays, but I thought that they looked perfect for using throughout the year too.
Sweet Shoppe: All the Numbers
December 16, 2008 by Emily · 4 Comments
Laura C. - one our creative readers sent a tip about this charming, modern shoppe called All the Numbers. The instant I looked at it, my mouth dropped, and well…here’s the rest.

This set of 6 stitched note cards (made with fabric scraps) consists of heavy white card stock made with 100% post consumer recycled materials, so that you can send eco-friendly notes to your friends. Woo! Pretty and friendly, all in one card.

Modern {Red} Poppy Quilt, where have you been all my life?!? This signature baby/toddler quilt generously measures 48 x 39 inches and is made with the softest white flannel for your little tot. Looking for colors to match your nursery? No problem! All the Numbers accepts custom orders too.

These intricate quilts make a perfect play mat and if you want something smaller, you can purchase a handmade mini “security blanket” quilt for $36.

This Christmas I have made an effort to buy from women in business. Hop on over there and get a few gifts checked off your list, while also supporting other women and mom-preneurs!

Red Barn Mercantile
December 11, 2008 by Emily · 7 Comments

“As soon as you enter Red Barn Mercantile, you’re welcomed by the mild scents of bath soaps and leather, candles and wood. Laughter blends with jazz as shoppers smooth the fabrics, gaze at the glassware and flip through books with their children. A couple is in the corner considering a changing table and crib for their expected arrival, a gentleman eyes an industrial steel and glass table for the space in his office, a woman spies a bucket chair worn smooth by years of use at a long ago dairy.”
I don’t think I could have said it better, after reading this, I’m pretty sure that I want to make a trip to Washington, D.C. just to visit this shoppe!

With furniture, bedding, gifts and home decor, this Washington, D.C. based shoppe blends old and new, vintage and modern, classic and quirky into one unforgettable experience. This store offers signature whole-room designs at great prices and you may also purchase many of their items online at their website.

Tiny Sprouts ~ Hand-Embroidered Goodness
December 5, 2008 by Emily · 6 Comments

You know that cookies are just around the corner when this itty bitty apron goes on. This lovely little culinary adornment is one of the many outstanding pieces in Tiny Sprout’s collection.
I have been marveling all morning at Tiny Sprout’s customized hand-embroidered goodness. From clothes to accessories, you will find that all of their cotton garments are hand-dyed, hand-embroidered and fit all sizes ~ newborn through toddler. Wouldn’t these items be a perfect keepsake?
With Christmas just around the corner, I simply couldn’t resist posting a few samples from Tiny Sprout’s Holiday Collection too. I was instantly a fan of their dainty ho ho ho loungeset.

My Happy Weekend and Lindee Shoppe Opening
December 1, 2008 by Emily · 14 Comments
How was your Thanksgiving Weekend? Mine was happy. Can you tell? I haven’t posted for 5 days and loved the break. We went to beautiful St. George to visit family and it was just all-around gorgeous. We slept in, ate a lot of pie and turkey, went on a hike and enjoyed the warm weather. Here’s a picture from our hike: (isn’t this view awesome?)

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Now for my big shoppe news: Lindee Shoppe is now open. Yea! It brings me great joy to say those words. It’s really open. I’ve been working on this shoppe and coordinating with my friend Catherine over the last few months and it’s finally finished!
It took me a while as there was quite a bit to figure out - setting up my business, the business bank account, getting all of the licenses I needed, learning about sales taxes, building an e-commerce site and deciding which products to sell. Thankfully, it’s now underway, fwew! I am even more impressed with anyone who has ever set up an online store, now I know, and my hat truly goes off to you.

It’s kind of small right now - I am just selling these cute marble magnet sets to see how it goes. I am planning to fill my shoppe with pretty handmade accessories for your home and kitchen.
My goal is to expand and grow (of course) - so you should be able to see a lot more items appearing within the next few weeks!!

What do you think about it? Have you set up a shoppe before? If so, I would love to know about your experience. Currently, every item in the shoppe is under $10! And if you like it enough to purchase a few sets, I’m also offering 10% off with code: lindee10
Little Urbanites - Holiday Gift Guides
November 21, 2008 by Emily · 4 Comments
Next week is the big shopping week! Are you ready? Do you go out the day after Thanksgiving? Or do you prefer to avoid the crowds? I have friends who every year without fail, camp out in front of their favorite stores with a map in hand ready to grab the best sales imaginable. I’m not that into it (I can’t say that I’ve ever camped out in front of a store), but I definitely love window shopping (of course) through children’s stores and shoppes that are displaying holiday items. It makes it feel like Christmas is really almost here!

Today’s little window shopping adventure is with Little Urbanites. This is a children’s retail store and modern design center based in Portland, OR that recently brought their brick-and-mortar online for all of us to enjoy.
They have everything from apparel to strollers and I love the store gift guides that they have listed for baby and for the holidays. Each one has three different sections (organized by price) where you can shop through a variety books, toys, gear, bath essentials and general gifts that are priced under $25, $50 or $150. Enjoy!

Crushin’ on Gorgeous Wall Décor
November 14, 2008 by Lauren · 8 Comments
Want to know a little secret about me?
I cannot bear bare walls!
They taunt me like a blank canvas just begging to be covered with creativity. Which is why I’m crushin’ big time on all the gorgeous vinyl wall décor available on Etsy. My wishlist is quite long, but here are the highlights:

With winter on its way, I’m hoping to bring Mother Nature indoors a bit with this Autumn Tree from Decorette, complete with delicately falling leaves.
These Whispy Willows from Scribble It would brighten up any little spot!

And I was totally charmed by this unique spin on the Family Tree from Elephannie.
How do you like to decorate your walls?

Sweet Shoppes: Handcrafted Children’s Clothing
November 13, 2008 by Emily · 4 Comments
How did I ever develop such an obsession with beautiful little shoppes?! ;) The two I’m going to highlight today really make me happy. I simply loved the pure awesomeness of their handmade children’s clothing and found shoppe pictures I adored left and right.

The first favorite on my list today is Hullabaloo Boutique. This shoppe displays and sells fine, handcrafted children’s boutique clothing and accessories.

Highlights:
-
Little Lady of Autumn ~ warm and funky little cloche made with herringbone and brown baby corduroy with brown and dark red flowers.
-
Star Bellies Long Sleeve Tee ~ White long sleeve tee with a rust colored corduroy star applique atop a circle denim applique.

At Leila and Ben, get ready to be a little crafty. This shoppe specializes in handmade sewing and crochet patterns for modern kids, that way you can keep the Leila and Ben style, yet you can customize the fabric and yarn colors to your preference.

Since you will find only patterns at this shoppe, it’s a great place to start if you are looking for a new sewing project or want to handmake your children’s clothing. Each pattern is original and will come to you as a PDF document.
