Goodbye to Little Window Shoppe
May 18, 2009 by Emily · 62 Comments
My Dearest Window Shoppe Readers and Friends,
This post has taken me over a month to write - partly because this is my last post on this blog. I am so sad to announce that as of today, Little Window Shoppe is closing for good.
The decision was not taken lightly and was really hard to make, but a combination of factors came together that brought me to this post…very much wanting to spend more time with my family (I have a very busy two year old who needs more mommy-time),
getting ready for baby #2 in November (I’ve been out sick for two months! But it’s totally worth it as we’re so excited to have a new baby come to our family), and finally getting ready for a move to a new state with my family this Summer (my hubby is starting a new job).

I have learned so much from blogging at Little Window Shoppe and will be forever grateful for the kind friends I have made and the amazing experiences that I have had here!! Thank you so much for taking time to make Little Window shoppe a part of your lives and for being such a fantastic community. And also, thank you for all of the nice emails and inquiries about how we are doing.
Before I say goodbye for good, I want to thank a few people who helped me along the way:
First and foremost, my husband Scott. He is an incredibly supportive husband and friend and was the first person to listen to my every idea and concern throughout my blogging adventures. He has also been Superman at my house and has cooked, cleaned, taken care of our two year old and helped me out while I was sick over the last seven weeks! I couldn’t ask for a better man in my life and I love him so much!!
I also wanted to thank Holly of Tutus and Turtles. She is so cool and listened and talked to me for hours on the phone as I worked out how I would end my Window Shoppe blogging days. Her blog has been an inspiration to me from the beginning and I think that her blog ideas rock!!
Finally, I wanted to thank each of the writers and contributors for Little Window Shoppe. Each of them had creative and beautiful ideas to share and I’m so grateful and honored that they wanted to be part of this blog with me. They have become some of my dearest friends and were the best group of writers a blog ever had! They even sent me tulips when I was sick (just about made me cry, I felt so loved).
Please visit each of their blogs to keep up with their cool ideas!

Earthy Mama Chic
March 11, 2009 by Lauren · 7 Comments
These days, to be hip, you have to be Green. Going organic is not only better for the earth, it’s better for you! And even more importantly, it’s better for your baby. The chemicals used in growing and processing conventional cotton are harsh on a little one’s skin, bad to breathe, and dangerous to ingest. Good thing eco-friendly mama-gear is widely available, and super fashionable! Here are three of my favorites:
By far the best mama-invention to come along is the Nursing Cover, which now comes in beautiful organic patterns from The Undercover Baby. I particularly love clever features like the flexible neckline (so you can easily peek in on baby) and an adjustable buckle, for comfort.

Why go through box after box of the scratchy white ones? These washable organic nursing pads are not only cute, they’re gentle on both you and the environment. I think the pirate pattern is too cool!

If I could, I’d do nothing but cuddle my baby all day long. However, since I have two other children who also need my attention (not to mention the cooking and cleaning!) I love the hands-free closeness I can give him with a sling. The organic line at Hot Slings looks especially soft and snuggly!
Each of these companies works hard to ensure the finest quality and workmanship, while also staying conscientious of Mother Earth. Isn’t it refreshing to find baby gear that is both savvy and stylish?

Bibbies for Babies with Style
February 10, 2009 by Vanessa · 10 Comments
Bibbies by Dilly Dally are stylish reversible bibs designed for the busiest of babies and the most particular moms. Not only protective and practical for mealtime, bibbies are also a chic baby accessory for all the “dilly dallying” in your child’s life.

The bibbie was created by a mom in 1952 and has proven to be a valuable must-have accessory for three generations. What makes bibbies so unique is their fashionable yet functional design. Not only do they cover and protect clean clothes, they are comfortable and adorable.
The double-sided quilted fabric makes them extra absorbent. They are easy to wash…just throw them in your washing machine on a cold cycle and tumble dry low. And best of all, your little one will have a hard time pulling them off…how I wish I knew about these during the messy months of my baby’s lives!

There are a variety of fabrics to choose from, and for bigger kids, bibbies are a useful yet chic cover-up to wear while cooking with mom, making crafts, drawing or painting. I am planning on picking up a couple for them to use when we play with playdough or do arts and crafts.

Stylish (and Affordable) Nursing Covers
October 15, 2008 by Emily · 4 Comments
A few years ago, I ordered a nursing cover from Baby Center just before my son was born. I loved it and found it to be incredibly useful. I had looked through a lot of different websites trying to find the right size, but also the right price. They are so cute and helpful, but they can be a little expensive when you’re trying to save money to buy everything on your list!

If you are trying to save a little cash, but you still want a hip-looking nursing cover, you will want to check Stylish Nursing Covers. This little shoppe is run by Tami, a stay at home mom of two children, who is committed to helping you create a cover that you will like at an affordable price.
The covers are all handmade, measure 25″tall x 42-43″wide, have a flexible curved neckline and they are half off the regular price from many other places ~ with covers priced at only $17.50 each!
Blush ~ Your Topless Undershirt
June 3, 2008 by Emily · 113 Comments
We have fallen in love with Blush Topless Undershirts and are sure that you will love them too. Whitney and I have a creative and talented friend named Katie who started this innovative company with her friend Rachel. We both thought that this was such a cool idea that we combined our review for you. Blush Topless Undershirts are so useful and cute for everyday use that we are sure these are going to be one of your new favorites.
Whitney: Topless Undershirts? Kind of ironic, don’t you think? Everybody has shirts that just aren’t long enough. And this is where Blush Undershirts step in…
Emily: Blush Undershirts add the layered look to your shirt, without adding straps. They fit perfectly just above your waist and they stay on effortlessly. I am so happy to have one of my own and can wear it with most of my shirts - it’s very nice to have. I love how simple these are to wear and the material is very comfortable and soft. They come in many beautiful prints and colors for you to choose from and are sold for just $15 each.
Whitney: They are especially useful if you are a pregnant or nursing mom. When nursing, you can lift your shirt up to nurse and not worry about your tummy or back showing! In the summer, it is also nice not having another seam at your underarm but still have the coverage you desire.
Discount:
Blush is giving readers 20% off a purchase of 2 or more Blush Shirts! Simply use the code welovebloggers.

Are you vacuuming around your baby’s highchair three times a day after each meal? I know that my husband and I do! We have our handy dandy little dust buster ready to go each time cereal and crackers fly off the tray. Luckily, there is a brilliant solution to all of this vacumming. It’s called the Wupzey Highchair Food Catcher. Not only is it an amazing functional product, it comes in cute designs and colors too.

Wupzey Highchair Food Catcher: $19.95
(Also receive a free bib with your purchase of the Wupzey Food Catcher!)
“Hi, my name is Johanna and I invented a high chair food catcher out of necessity. It really helped me save time and energy at feeding time when our baby started to eat on her own. I was tired in the day from not sleeping through the nights. The high chair food catcher saved me from cleaning up off the floor and floor-mat three times a day for about 12 months.”
“I have received many comments like “Where was that when my child was a baby” and “What a great idea”. Also, CBS in San Diego did a positive Consumer Alert segment on the Wupzey high chair food catcher.” For more reviews, just click this LINK.

Figure 8 Maternity
March 24, 2008 by Emily · 1 Comment
Figure 8 Maternity was a great find for me last weekend. I was looking for a Maternity Dress, & didn’t want to spend $50 plus dollars! Maternity clothes are hard to find for a good deal, & since the time is short that they are worn, I hate spending more on them than I do my non-maternity outfits.

I stumbled upon this website & this pink dress was exactly what I was looking for! I wanted something to wear for special occasions & needed something springy.
This dress was $98 with $5 shipping & was marked down to $19.00! I even used a promotional code, wintersale07, & saved 20% more! So my total for the dress along with the shipping was $20.20. I could not believe it! I ordered the dress on Saturday, but it didn’t get shipped until Monday. Coming from New Jersey, I expected it to take awhile but Wednesday afternoon, there it was on my front porch!
This website features maternity & nursing clothes that are trendy & in style. The clearance section obviously represents the best value & is where I always head right away when shopping.

The butterfly cap sleeve shirt is on sale for $42, and it goes down to $33.60 if you use the wintersale07 promotional code. The Ultimate Strapless Tube top (the other item I wish I would have ordered!) is $19, making it $15.20 with the promotional code. This top is so springy, it would be perfect to wear to the pool or in the warm weather this summer.
Check out Figure 8 Maternity for modern nursing & maternity clothes. If you or someone you know is pregnant, or will be soon, you should definitely check out the sale items. Many winter items are also available & it’s perfect timing to plan ahead & get a great deal!
