These Gorgeous Holiday Cards are by Sweet Mady’s Paper
Have you sent out your holiday cards yet? Well, if not, don’t worry. This week is the perfect time to get them done and sent out to your family and friends. If you are like me, you look forward to this time of year and all the great cards that flood your mailbox. I enjoy opening them up to see the annual family photos and read letters from some family and friends that live far away. Holiday cards are such a great way to keep those special people in your life that are not close by involved with your family.
Here are a few simple steps to help you get your cards out the door.
- First, decide on a classic greeting card or a more modern photocard. Next, choose your card and add a simple wording to it. On a sidenote, signing your family’s name or writing a short note on the card, adds a special touch.
- Next, place your order and get yourself organized while you wait for your cards to be completed. You can be organized by purchasing all your stamps in advance and checking your address list to make sure all addresses are correct.
- If you are newly married and this is your first holiday sending out cards together, use your wedding guest list as a starting point for you address list. Once you have received your cards, you will be ready to send them on their way.
Now all you have to think about is how to display those fabulous cards you will be receiving!

Christmas Countdown
November 24, 2008 by Michelle · 9 Comments
Christmas is just around the corner and while many of us will be busy pulling those decorations out of the attic or standing in long lines trying to get a jump on holiday shopping, one of my favorite things about the season is the Advent calendar.
I love the tradition behind the calendar and the anticipation of a special new treat each morning. I remember being a little girl and opening each small door to get a peek at the yummy chocolate treat just waiting for me each day. Now that I am a mom of three little ones, I get even more joy out of putting those treats behind each door and watching as the kids get so excited to count down to Christmas.

In my quest to by handmade this year, I have found some of the most delightful advent calendars. Enjoy and don’t forget to leave yourself a treat as well!

Thanksgiving Table Talk
November 10, 2008 by Michelle · 6 Comments
Thanksgiving is only a few short weeks away and for some of us that means planning to pack our bags and visit family, while others are preparing to host this annual feast. Either way there will be families and friends gathering around a fabulous menu to eat and well, chat.
If you are hosting this year and would like to talk about something other than turkey and football try Table Topics. With ten different topic cubes to choose from, including Family Gatherings, you will be sure to host a fabulous Thanksgiving meal that your friends and family will fondly remember. If you are not hosting {that’s me!}, the cubes can make a thoughtful gift to show your host your gratitude for all the hard work in the kitchen. Also, be sure to visit the Emily Post site for a quick read on Thanksgiving Etiquette. Yes, you must be on time.

Journaling
October 27, 2008 by Michelle · 12 Comments
When my daughter Madelyn was born I began writing a journal for her. For me, this is one of the most important things I do. I try to write in it regulary and choose to write in letter format. I write to her about things she likes at the moment, funny things she does, my hopes for her and generally just little tidbits about her that she won’t remember and I may not remember in a few years.
Now that I also have twin boys, I keep journals for them as well, but have found that I don’t write in all their journals as often as I would like. However, I still feel it is so important. I hope to give the kids their journals either when they leave for college or get married. I hope that it is something they will be able to open up, read and know how much they are loved. Do you keep a journal? You can find lovely journals from Paper Posey to help get you started.
To get started on your journal make sure first to keep your journal in a safe spot and choose a time to write that will be relaxing with no distrubtions. As a mom of three I know that’s hard, so I choose to write at night after all the kids are in bed and asleep. There is really no right or wrong way to write. Just write about whatever comes to mind and it is sure to turn out great. Writing down these memories for our children is one of the greatest gifts we can give them. So go ahead. Get writing!

Tame Your Ribbon
September 29, 2008 by Michelle · 7 Comments
If you are like me and love to do crafts you know how difficult ribbon can be to manage. Well I have found the perfect solution for you! I use ribbon daily for my lunchboxes and I always had mine stored in a little basket. As cute as my little basket was, it didn’t help me with keeping my ribbon organized. Then I found the Ribbon Ring!
Melissa is the creative lady behind the Ribbon Ring and I am so happy she is letting us all in our her little secret. She was another gal, just like me, who loved to do crafts but always had her ribbon in a mess. She came up with the idea to hang the ribbon on little tags and put the tags on a ring. So clever, so simple, so neat! You can purchase the ribbon tags in bundles of 30, 60 or 90. I have the pack of 30 and still have 20 available tags to use! It took me about 20 minutes to get my ribbons onto the Ribbon Ring.
You can see how easy it is by the photos, because I had one of my boys pulling on my legs the whole time. Mommy has to get this ribbon organized! Not only did Melissa design a clever ring, she went a step further and added little adhesive dots to place on your tag. These dots remind you that you have more ribbon unopened waiting for you. You could also use the dots to let you know that this is the end of your ribbon roll.
What to do with the extra ribbon still unopened? I put mine all in a clear vase as an accessory on my desk. Now my ribbon is so easy to get too. I just pick the pattern I want and pull one piece right off. Not only is it easy, but it’s still so cute, without the mess. Enjoy and here’s to taming your ribbon!
