Lilybella, isn’t that such pretty name? Behind this pretty name is a savvy boutique that specializes in “funk-tional” oilcloth products for kids and moms. Oilcloth is a waterproof, wipe-clean fabric that is great for kids, while being fashionable at the same time.
Have you ever left a little love note on a napkin for your kids when they go to school? Or did your family do that for you? “Good Luck on Your Test Today Sweetie!” “Mom and Dad Love You Lots” or ”Hugs and Kisses.” If this is something you enjoy doing, then you will like this little gadget. I am happy to introduce to you Lilybella Boutique’s Chalkcloth pencil case! It is made using two “kid-proof”, oilcloth fabrics of your choice, and includes a chalkcloth strip on the front, so that you can leave any little note you want your children to read when they are at school.
Win It:
One lucky Window Shoppe reader will win this sweet Chalkcloth Pencil Case and a matching coin purse too.

Simply visit Lilybella Boutique, leave a comment or send an email to contest@littlewindowshoppe.com and answer this quick little question: Does Lilybella Boutique sell Party Packs? Lookin’ Hip With Bibzees
August 29, 2008 by Emily · 6 Comments
If you have children, you probably remember the seemingly endless amounts of baby drool and spit up that consumed your life during your baby’s first few months. I’m pretty sure that I had to change baby outfits regularly just to keep up with the wetness of it all! For all parents with this dilemma, we often have to choose between changing outfits multiple times or settling for a bib. And although “I Love Grandma” is one of our favorites - sometimes hip babes need a little more bib style too.
Helping your babe to achieve ultimate hipness within minutes are Bibzees, which combine a bit of edginess with a little vintage all jam-packed into one good looking bib. Bibzees are 3 piece sets that consist of a bodysuit and two coordinating bibs - which create the perfect solution for especially frequent droolers. The screen printed design is on the bib instead of the bodysuit so you aren’t covering up the cool part of your babies outfit.
If you’re interested in getting your hands on this baby gear, check out the Bibzees collection Here.

iVideosongs - Play Like a Professional
August 28, 2008 by Emily · 9 Comments
Have you ever wanted to play the guitar or piano like your favorite music artist, BUT you didn’t know how or where to start?
According to a recent Gallup poll by NAMM, 82% of people who don’t play a musical instrument wish that they did (<—– my dad fits in nicely here, which is why all of us (my brothers, sisters and I) play an instrument…but it’s not too late Dad!). Sites like iVideosongs are helping aspiring musicians of all skill levels learn to accurately play musical instruments from many of the original artists and musical legends through video.
I feel really lucky that I grew up playing the piano and love it to pieces! It’s one of my favorite hobbies, but I haven’t ever played the guitar and have ALWAYS wanted to. When I first heard about iVideosongs, I was especially impressed with their “Guitar School” (recently introduced in the iTunes Store), which includes guitar instruction for some of the most popular songs from major artists including Cold Play, Santana, Sheryl Crow, Alison Krauss, The Beatles and much more.
Here are a few YouTube videos that will give you a “sneak preview” into what an instructional video would be like, and they are priced from $5 to $10! (Considering all the mula we forked out for lessons growing up, I think that this is extremely affordable).

We Did It! We Ran in our First Marathon.
August 26, 2008 by Emily · 27 Comments

I am going to take a Window Shoppe break for just a wee moment to divulge my recent life experience with you! It’s a pretty long story…normally I just post candid thoughts and moments like this on my family blog, but since I have so many friends here I wanted you to know too!

I have really wanted to write about our marathon since Saturday…but we have been kind of in recovery mode (OK - in serious recovery mode) and additionally we were hoping that a few pictures would be ready by now. Sadly, we didn’t have our camera on us - and I just couldn’t wait any longer.
So, I will update this post with pics of the husband and I as soon as we have proof that we really were here and really ran this “harder than almost anything I have ever done in my entire life (next to childbirth)” marathon.

First of all, Park City is beautiful; Scotty and I kept talking about how we would love to live here, especially since we are serious snowboarders. If you’re not familiar with Park City, this is where the 2002 Winter Olympics took place and where the Sundance Film Festival is held each year.

We were so excited to run! We woke up at 4:15 am, dropped off our little boy at our friend’s house for the day and drove to Park City. Our iPods were all pimped out and we were very hydrated and rested. And so it began at 6:30 am…the marathon started out at 6400 ft. (elevation). We live at about 5300 ft. so it wasn’t too bad for us. We were cruising! Considering this was our first marathon, we just wanted to finish, we weren’t too serious about finishing in a certain time.
We completed 14 miles in about 2 1/2 hours and we thought we were going to fly right to the end…until the INCLINE OF DEATH!!! That’s right, from mile 14 to 18 we ran up to 7400 ft. (elevation) (Ummm, that would be a 1000 ft. incline…and why didn’t we plan to run in the St. George Marathon instead?). It was wicked hard and everything started to hurt, our feet, our knees…I kept trying to think of anything motivational to keep it going…funny enough Rocky kept coming to mind (but that’s probably because I am married to a Rocky fanatic who likes to have frequent Rocky Movie Marathons).

By the time we hit mile 24, I actually did start crying and for both of us everything was throbbing with pain. This is where I have the sweetest husband in the world, he ran with me the whole way (we promised that we would stick together) and the whole time we both kept trying to encourage each other through our different struggles. ;) After a few minutes, we felt like we could run again and were rejuvenated and focused (Hammer gels also helped here) and we ran it in to the Finish at 26.2 miles!! Woo! We finished right around 6 hours.

It was a proud moment for sure and we were so happy. Recovery has been kind of tough, going up or down stairs or even standing up the last few days have been “ouchy”, but things are starting to feel mostly back to normal.
This was a goal we have had for a long time and we were really happy to accomplish it. There were so many people who helped us along the way too - Anjelee, JaNece, our Families, Fitness for Mommies and supportive friends!!
So, would I run in one again? Hmmmm…I think I prefer half-marathons and seem to do much better all around running 13 miles. Have you run in a marathon or half-marathon before? Where did you run? What was your experience like?
